A detailed roadmap of how to achieve the objective. The better the strategy, the easier it is to execute.
Strategize – This part of the book made me realize how to get to my goals in a step by step process. You are much more likely to accomplish your goals if you lay out a strategy, and as it said in the book, “a sound strategy makes execution a whole lot easier.” As I read this, I formulated a plan for success for the end of the semester. Go to bed early and wake up refreshed so that you don’t ever feel the inclination to skip class, complete all assignments on time and do so using front sight focus, and most importantly get out of your comfort zone: no matter if that means going in for office hours, or getting more involved in and out of class.
I have come to the conclusions that strategizing is the preparation work that needs to be done in order to be successful, but that no one wants to do. These include creating an outline for a paper, communicating with teammates about steps to moving forward with a project, or practicing a presentation before giving it to the class. Maybe I am wrong to say that “no one” wants to do these things, but I always felt that they were a barrier to actually starting a project. However, I have learned that they are not barriers, but rather stepping stones to creating the best thing possible.
The strategize portion of the text helped me understand how to perfect strategies such as networking, crafting my resume, and preparation for numerous exams. This chapter provided me with the skills needed to achieve a goal I had set. Before this class I had never thought far into the processes I take to finish a task. Now, I plan ahead before I make the first step for a project. I have begun to religiously fill out my planner at the beginning of each week and take on the task one day at a time.
The term strategize is used with the planning of your short-term goals as well as your long-term goals. I’ve used the tool, “strategize” in my own life by using a calendar to keep track of my tasks and goals throughout the month. I noticed a complete change in my productivity level where my GPA skyrocketed from 3.0 to a 3.5 due to my increase in organization. This tool allowed me to stray away from procrastinating and complete my assignments in an efficient manner.
